ASHFORD SUNDAY LEAGUE: MARKET FIND SUSSEX OPPONENTS JUST TOO STRONG IN CUP FA Sunday Cup
Market Hotel were knocked out in the first round for the second successive season – beaten 4-1 by Broadwater FC from Worthing.
Market scored through Shqipron Ahmetaj – the first goal that their opponents had conceded all season – but the Sussex side netted four times to go through to the second round. Jones (2), Mitchell Punt, Kieran Lynn, Steve Rice, Lewis Horne and top scorer Jason Simms. Dan Jackson grabbed a consolation goal for the visitors.
Ten-man Stanhope & Beaver Rangers came back from going behind to an early goal to knock out Iden Park (Naithan Jackson), winning 4-1.
Stanhope had been reduced to 10 men following Harry Goddard’s red card. But Gary goals from Penfold (2), Jamie Hurst and Tom Collins saw them go through.
White Horse Folkestone (Dane Bond) lost 2-1 at home to Dover side Angels.
Aldington also went down 2-1, at home to Gardeners Arms. Dan Rose had given Aldington the lead, but two late goals proved decisive. Brad Parker. Andrew Neal and Matt Kirby replied for Burton.
Shepway Spartans won 2-1 victory at St Stephens from Canterbury thanks to Alex Skippen and John Smith.
Matt Moon (4) helped Ashford Cavaliers to a 7-0 win against White Horse from Maidstone. Mike Ward (2) and Jack Bundock completed the scoring.
Appledore beat Kings Park Rangers from Maidstone 2-1, with both goals from Bradley Godden.
Sandgate crashed out 7-3 at home to Monument 3rds. Their goals came from Adam Boxer, Jordan Burton and Derek Roundhoudt.
Red Heathens climbed to fourth with a 4-3 win at Willesborough Athletic. Radislaw Davidov netted a hat-trick for the Heathens, who were 3-1 down at one point. Atanas Mavrov netted to seal the come from behind victory. Willesborough replied through Matt Jarvis, Tom Wilkes and Michael Dryland.
