Williams dips under 40-minute mark

Kate Williams was 20th lady home in the Deal 5 Mile on Sunday.

The Ashford and District Road Running Club member completed the course in a time of 39 minutes 49 seconds

Jon Wells ran the Abbey Dash 10k, which attracted a field of more than 8,600 runners, with the top-14 finishers all dipping under 30 minutes.

Wells put in a strong performance, despite not being fully fit, to finish 737th in 41.07.

Robert Latala won the latest Ashford parkrun on Saturday.

He finished in 16.44, ahead of runner-up Lloyd Worsley of Folkestone Running Club (17.07), with Marshall Smith of Ashford AC third (17.16).

First timer Ed Peters was fourth in 17.50, with another Ashford AC member James Wilton fifth in 18.06.

Dan Green was the next Ashford District member home, eighth in 19.48.

Shane Dragwidge continued his excellent recent form with another personal best – 11th in 20.37, one place ahead of Paul Moses (20.39) – and was first in his age-group.

Pat Butler was another agegroup winner, 24th in 21.34, while Gill O’Connor claimed the V55 lady course record with a 21.44 PB.

Richard Baker, returning after injury, was 28th in 21.52.
