Grateful youngster repays hospice for care of his mum

- By Vicky Castle

An eight-year-old boy is holding his second tea party in memory of his mum who died from a brain tumour last year.

Harrison Cummins held the first fundraiser last September, shortly after his mum Holly Loudon’s diagnosis.

Sadly his 29-year-old mum died just weeks after the fundraiser.

The inspirational youngster raised a whopping £13,000 for Pilgrims Hospice last year and has decided to open the second Harrison’s Super Cafe.

There will be a raffle, tombola, tea and cakes at The Riverside Inn in Torrington Road, South Ashford, from 10am to 2pm on Saturday, December 10.

Proud dad Peter said: “We are holding another cake sale this year, for three main reasons, firstly to try and help fund the amazing help of Pilgrims Hospice.

“Secondly we want to say thank you for what they did for Harrison’s mum before she lost her fight to cancer and what they will continually do for so many others now and in time to come.

“And last but not least, before Holly lost her fight later last December, the event helped us, Harrison’s friends and family, create and feel a huge amount of focus, positivity, love and generosity from our community.

“Recreating this event will help show Harrison and many others so much positivity in this festive season, which for many will be the hardest.

“Everybody local at some point in their life will unfortunately, fortunately see or receive the fantastic 24-hour help and unconditional care that the Pilgrims Hospices charity gives to terminally ill people.

“They are self-funding, but no amount of money can ever evaluate what they do for patients and their families, making their darkest days as bright as they could possibly be.”

If you can’t make the event, you can also support Harrison by texting HRWC15 and the amount i.e £1, £2, £3, £4, £5 or £10 to 70070. Alternatively visit www.justgiving.com/ fundraising/HarrisonCummins1.
