‘TO SEE HIM WALKING AROUND IS AMAZING’

-

Critical care paramedic Simon King said: “When we arrived, someone was trapped in the car and the car had crumpled in around him. We needed to get him out of the car as quickly but as safely as possible.

“He was stable and chatting to us and his breathing seemed fine, but he was in pain. It wasn’t until we got him out of the car that we knew the injuries were serious. To be able to meet him and to see him walking around and hear about his recovery and rehabilitation, it’s amazing.”

Air ambulance paramedic Adam Ormrod said: “We knew we would have to head straight to King’s College Hospital, the major trauma unit, and we were there within 20 minutes, making sure that he was in as little pain as possible during the flight.

“Today has been really nice to meet Simon again and he is very grateful to all of us. He keeps saying thank you, but we were just doing our job.”

Faversham firefighter Dan Packham said: “We arrived at the incident to find the car embedded in the lorry.

“We needed to get him to hospital as soon as possible as we knew that he was in a serious and potentially lifethreatening condition.

“It’s quite an extraordinary situation as Simon got in contact with me earlier on in the year and I have been assisting him with his recovery.

“He is so pleased that the services pulled together, and as a result, he is where he is today.”
