‘My life was transformed by course’

-

A Stanhope teenager has praised an Armed Forces-style training course for radically transforming her life. Hollie Dehara, 18, took part in the Impact Ashford course based at the Stanhope Hub earlier this year.

Now, she is set to start an apprenticeship as a teaching assistant and sports coach at her old primary school and says her confidence is all down to Impact.

She said: “When the course began I was unfit and I completed my first run of 1.5 miles in more than 20 minutes.

“But by the end of the 13-week course, I completed the run in 12 minutes.”

The Impact South East Ashford programme is designed for young people between 16 and 24 who aspire to join the uniformed services or want to improve their fitness, lifestyle, personal confidence and discipline.

It runs three times a year and is sponsored by Ashford-based Concept Training, with people undertaking team building, personal fitness activities, personal development and academic education.

Hollie added: “I would highly recommend the programme to anyone who doesn’t know what career they want.”

The next Impact course runs from January 23 until April 21.
