Where you can celebrate with Christmas carols

With less than three weeks to go until the big day, there are plenty of Christmas carol events around the borough to cater for every festive taste.

So when you have finished decking the halls with boughs of holly and you are ready to start counting down the 12 days of Christmas, check out some of these events:

On Sunday in Great Chart. A Christmas carol service for younger children and their families will take place at the Grace Fellowship Church. There will be interactiv­e readings, Christmas craft activities, and youngsters are welcome to dress up as a Nativity character. Entry is free and the service will run from 4pm to 5.30pm.

On Sunday in County Square. Popular local choir Ashford Sings! will be performing two special Christmas gigs for shoppers at County Square. The first concert will be at noon and the second will start at 1.30pm.

On Sunday in Boughton Aluph. Residents are invited to join in with the village carols at the Flying Horse pub, in the Lees. The service is from 4.30pm and everyone is welcome.

On Tuesday at Ashford Mar- ket on the Orbital Park. Hobbs Parker will host a carols and Christmas event in the cattle ring from 6.30pm. There will be mulled wine, mince pies and a Nativity play with live animals provided by Brockhill Young Farmers’ Club. Bill Jones, head of Wye’s Spring Grove School, will lead the singing. Entry is free. Visitors are encouraged to dress warmly.

On Friday, December 16, in Sevington. There will be carols by candleligh­t performed by members of Canterbury Brass Band at St Mary’s Church. Visitors are asked wrap up warm, bring a torch and arrive at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. The event features a visit by Father Christmas.

On Saturday, December 17, in the town centre. Internatio­nally renowned conductor Mark Deller will be leading the Ashford Choral Society in a traditiona­l Christmas concert at St Mary’s Church. Doors open at 6.45pm for mince pies and mulled wine before the 7.30pm start. Tickets are £6 and can be bought on the door, but entry is free for children.

On Sunday, December 18, in Wye. There will be a Christmas carol service in the church from 6.30pm, followed by mulled wine and mince pies.

On Tuesday, December 20, in Brabourne. There will be a festive carol singalong at the Five Bells Inn from 7.30pm to 10pm. 1 Clean Bandit – Rockabye (ft.
