Teenagers fundraising for their aid mission to Mexico

- By Molly MilehamChappell

A group of teenagers have begun fundraising for a trip to Mexico to build a home for a homeless family.

Four leaders and four pupils in the Willesborough Baptist Church (WBC) Furnace group will take part in the Urban Saints ReBuild Mexico trip next April.

The trip includes five days of building with another group, working up from the foundations to the final touches and will culminate in handing over the keys to the family who are set to move in.

For some of the group it’s a return trip but for others, including Sarah Guy, 16, and Beth Read, 16, this will be a totally new experience.

Amy Walters, one of the trip leaders said: “The trip isn’t just life-changing for the families that we build for, but life-changing for those who do the building and for those that support us back home.”

The build teams spend every evening together playing games and share how the day has gone, and thank God for their work on the trip.

The group is holding a fundraising bingo night for the trip this Saturday at the Warehouse, Ashford Vineyard, on the Cobbs Wood estate from 7.30-10.30pm. To book tickets, visit www. mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/ wbcfurnacemexico2017 with the reference BINGOTICKET in the message box. £10 for adults, £5 for children.
