Streets could soon resound to mums calling for little Apollo or Vogue

kentishexpress@thekmgroup.co.uk What’s the most unusual child’s name you’ve ever heard of ?

While Olivia, Amelia and Jack have long dominated the popular baby name lists, the latest string of names to emerge online are unlikely to knock them from their secure top spots.

Parenting website babycentre UK has released a list of 40 names, 20 for boys and 20 for girls, which they describe as ‘fresh’ for 2017, offering a more ‘unusual choice’ for parents.

Among the more unusual in the pink corner are Adelina, Juniper, Delta and Vogue for girls.

While in the blue corner Ocean, Urban, Atlas and Apollo are among the options for boys.

‘I think people are more accepting of unusual names’

UK lists.

Jenni Wright, 39, said: “They’re a bit too trendy for me, it’s like people are trying to out do each other with their children’s names.”

Andy Horn, 37, said: “I’ve kept my children’s names quite traditional but I think people are more accepting of unusual names nowadays.”

Delia Wall, 61, from Egerton said: “I have horses and they remind me of some of the names I’d use for them! I think people just want to stand out and don’t like to be boring.”

Theresa Shurrock, 53, Rolvenden said: “If my children have kids, I think they’ll use more modern names like these ones, some of them are not too bad.”

Michelle House, 33, said she likes unusual names and chose different ones for her own children.

She said: “I nearly used River but I went for Brooklyn for my son and Dakota for my daughter who’s five years old.”

Lynn Taylor, 51, from Challock said: “I like one or two of them but they remind me of the names celebrities would use for their children.”
