Fourth generation Rio’s here
The new, fourth-generation Kia Rio has gone on sale today with an asking price of £11,995. Available solely as a fivedoor, the Fiesta-rivalling supermini has three trim levels and one limitededition variant.
The basic price buys the ‘1’- grade car, which comes with air conditioning, electric windows, Bluetooth and steering wheelmounted audio controls.
Mid-range ‘2’-trim cars start at £13,745 and add 15-inch alloy wheels, leather trim on the steering wheel and a five-inch colour display screen, as well as cruise control and a reversing camera.
Moving up to the top-spec ‘3’ model, meanwhile, will cost at least £16,295, but it provides 16-inch alloys, automatic air conditioning, faux leather upholstery and a seven-inch display screen, plus automatic wipers, heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
At launch, there will also be a First Edition model, which will boast even larger 17-inch alloys, keyless start, plus black and red faux leather upholstery.
Customers will also get a large choice of engines, with a new turbocharged 1.0-litre unit joining the existing 1.25-litre petrol and 1.4-litre petrol and diesel units.
The newcomer is available with 99 or 118bhp, depending on variant, and manages up to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle.
The diesel, however, remains the most economical choice, returning as much as 80.7mpg and CO2 emissions from 92g/km.
