Wheelchair users still have priority

-

A Stagecoach spokesman said: “We’re very clear that wheelchair passengers continue to have priority use of the designated space on all our buses, including the Little & Often minibuses. We allow small prams and buggies to occupy that space but only when it is not required by a passenger in a wheelchair.

“We expect our drivers to do everything possible to accommodate a wheelchair user, including asking customers with prams or buggies to reposition or fold them away. We also expect our customers to be ready to give way if a wheelchair user wishes to board the bus. The overwhelming majority of our customers respect and cooperate with this position.”

Regarding interior space in the new minibuses, they added: “The minibuses offer priority seats for customers who require increased room. There are three in the front row and three tip-up seats in the wheelchair space that can be used if it’s unoccupied.”
