Sitting comfortably thanks to donation

-

A disabled Ashford youngster is sitting pretty in a special new car seat thanks to children’s charity Newlife.

Gabriel Bennett, who has autism, global developmental delay and is non-verbal, had outgrown his old car seat.

But now the four-year-old has a £665 special seat with a five-point harness, funded by the disabled children’s charity, so he can get out and about with his family.

His mum Anne said: “With the standard car seat I couldn’t go out with him on my own as I would constantly have to pull over and strap him back in.

“Even the short distance to school was hazardous, because there would be times when we were stuck in traffic and I would have to get out and put him back in the seat.

“The new car seat has made a huge difference. Gabriel is happy to get into his seat. I can take him anywhere now, it’s brilliant.

“Sometimes if he’s a bit wound up I can take him to the beach.

“Even if we don’t get out of the car just listening to the sea and the drive calms him.”
