Going green with a heartfelt gesture

-

Volunteers created wood, paper, fabric and yarn hearts to raise awareness of climate change.

Dozens of people took part in Orlestone WI’s second Green Hearts Day last Wednesday in Hamstreet.

WI secretary Margaret Hanlon, said: “Hearts were made of all kinds of material and decorated with all kinds of things, from teasels and snail shells to buttons and bows. They were strung all along the centre of Hamstreet village and made an impressive display.”

Residents, churchgoers and Hamstreet Primary Academy pupils came together to go green and think about the results of climate change.

The WI will be holding its annual Green Fingers Plant Sale in the Victory Hall in May and it is appealing for donations of books, magazines or gardening items to be sold or exchanged at the event.
