Kentish Express Ashford & District

Career switch for former KE editor

-

A former Kentish Express editor has left the KM Group after almost 17 years to take up a new role in public relations.

Leo Whitlock joined the KM from east London in 2000 as a sub editor, became deputy news editor, news editor and then editor of the Kentish Express in Ashford before moving to our Canterbury office to take charge of the Kentish Gazette, Whitstable Gazette, Herne Bay Gazette and the Faversham News.

In recent years he was also editor of the Thanet Extra and the East Kent Mercury as well as its sister titles. He left on Friday to become the head of communications with Canterbury City Council.

He said: “During my time with the KM the way we work has changed beyond all recognition and so have the demands on the newsroom, but our journalists remain rooted in the communities they serve. I’ve loved every minute of it.”
