Youngsters get to hear author’s work

-

A children’s author visited Waterstones in Ashford’s County Square during half term.

Colin Wicks signed copies of his Frances Fidget-Knickers book series at the store and read chapter snippets to delighted youngsters.

The stories centre around a quirky family who are banished from a magical world where Frances takes the opportunity to play tricks on her mean grandad when her parents go away.

The 53-year-old author from Kennington experienced high demand for the books following visits to schools, where he holds interactive sessions and chats about overcoming reading and writing difficulties due to suffering with dyslexia.

After Christmas, he asked the store in County Square to stock the series.

Mr Wicks said: “I’m quite amazed about the level of interest and the amount of children that have enjoyed the story.

“I’m very humbled by it, for a story I wrote for my children.”
