Worsley continues his excellent form

Lloyd Worsley continued his good form with victory in the Lydd Half Marathon on Sunday. The Folkestone Running Club member put in an impressive performanc­e to win in a time of 1hr 13min 34sec. Worsley, second in the Ashford & District 10k behind winner Robert Latala, and fourth in the Canterbury 10, was followed home by Keith McIntosh (1:13.53) with clubmate Andrew Fletcher third (1:15.23). Another FRC man, David Weekes, was fourth, securing the club the men’s team trophy. Robin Butler was first Ashford & District RRC representa­tive home, 17th overall and MV45 age category winner in 1:24.56, followed by Paul Moses, 21st in a personal best of 1:26.40. Jonny Wells in 23rd (1:27.04) and Mark Attenborou­gh 34th (1:29.27) also ran PBs, while Kevan James headed the MV55 age category, finishing 36th (1:30.12). Paul Brasington was 63rd 1:41.26), Gill O’Connor won the FV55 category (1:42.18), while Hazel Turner finished 69th (1:41.38) and Mark Carlton 87th (1:45.03). Tom Millard, of South Kent Harriers, finished runner-up in the Lydd 20 miler, finishing in 1:53.09. He split the Cambridge Harriers pair, winner Ben Shearer (1:50.30) and third-placed Phil Dickens (1:53.39). Many of the runners used the event as preparatio­n for the spring marathon season next month. Richard Baker was first home for Ashford & District RRC in 116th place (2:38.09), with Danyel Carter 177th (2:45.36). Rod Kessack, running his first race for the club, finished in a personal best time of 3:11.15. Other times: Edward Rodger (3:17.19), Helen Weeden (3:26.00), Sue Reader (3:27.43), Paul Bailey (3:31.05) and Andrew Smith (3:48.36). Trevor Kay flew the flag in the Barcelona Marathon, producing a fine performanc­e to finish in 3:03.09. Closer to home, Dave Hunt and Stu Nunn ran in the Silverston­e Half Marathon around the circuit which stages the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The pair were also using is as warm-up for the London and Brighton Marathons, Hunt recording a personal best of 1:41.26, while Nunn came home in 1:47.20. Rhian Shrimplin ran a PB in the Bath Half Marathon (1:45.21) with Anthony Brown home in 1:35.04. Orla Quearney completed the North London Half Marathon in a time of 1:57.04. Steve Hickman took part in tough off-road event, the Larmer Tree Marathon in Wiltshire, finishing in 5:42.20.
