Hundreds of heartwarmi­ng tributes have been left on Paul Hardisty’s Facebook page, describing him as a kind and well-respected man.

Michelle Shave wrote: “From the very little time that I spent with you it was so apparent what a lovely kind man you were.

“I am so sorry to hear that you have been taken from this world so suddenly.

“My thoughts are with Mel and your family and friends.”

Amanda Wood-Woolley said: “I am so, so saddened to put my Facebook on this morning and see the news of your tragic passing.

“Taken way too soon. We only spoke the other day regarding your upcoming surgery. You were one of the nicest guys ever, always talking about your love for Mel and your family.

“My thoughts go out to all who knew and loved you.”

David Gray said: “Rest in peace, brother. I am in total shock at the sad news and heartbroke­n.

“I will always remember you with that big daft infectious smile on your face. A true gentleman rest easy brother.

“Learning of the passing of a great friend, such as H, is one of them.
