The email from the school has divided opinion among our readers. Here’s what you said on Facebook: Mark Steeple said: “The school would like to apologise for any offence caused by this email. NO – don’t apologise. The email qualified the statement, the school has a support system in place for students, and if they do feel depressed then at home alone is not the place for them. If someone was offended by it, then that’s just too bad.” Dan Wyatt said: “Fair play to the school. Maybe the people offended should try to employ a sense of humour. The term ‘millennials’ comes to mind.” Steve Horner said: “It’s well worded, and gets the point across with humour, I think it’s brilliant.” David Bishop said: “People kill themselves over depression, and mental health issues which normally come out during school times, obviously the students wouldn’t wanna go to therapy at a school that tells them to suck it up. Therapy is probably needed not insensitive statements. Need more love in the world not negativity. People need to realise everyone deals with things differently and everyone has different views because everyone has lived different lives from different backgrounds.” Justin Wilkinson said: “I’m sure if students are struggling too much there’s always the thick kids school they can attend instead. Can’t let a few lazy pupils tarnish the school’s exemplary educational standards now can we?”
