Charities receive police cash

-

Two community organisations in Ashford have been presented with donations of £500 from the Kent Police property fund.

Raised from the sale at auction of unclaimed items seized during operations, money from the fund is distributed twice a year to organisations that provide services to people throughout the county.

A presentation was held at Ashford Police Station, where representatives from the Beaver Community Trust and Home-Start Ashford and District accepted their donations. The Beaver Community Trust runs two nurseries and commu- nity cafes, providing care and education to those in need.

Home-Start has been running for 27 years and provides support for families with at least one child under the age of five who may be experiencing difficulties.

Insp Andrew Bidmead said:”`It is always a pleasure to meet people who work hard to improve the lives of others, and I am sure the donations we have made will be put to good use.

“Each of these organisations adds great value to the local community and I am pleased we are able to help them in this way.”
