League victory brings maximum points

Ashford ladies claimed a 10-point maximum with a 123-67 Kent League win over Angel (Tonbridge). Gill Howard, Pat Boreham, Joy Sinclair and Anne Price were the top scoring rink, winning 26-12. The club lost 69-49 in a friendly against Hamstreet – B Edwards, H Gatward and D Matey won their rink by a 16-14 margin. Ashford men visit Stone Lodge (Dartford) in the Kent League on Saturday, while the club host Havering in a friendly match. The St James’s Place Tournament inter-club event takes places on Sunday. Bethersden have collected the club of the year award at the annual Kent LTA Tennis presentati­on dinner at Wilderness­e Golf Club near Sevenoaks.

They won the prize for clubs which have one to four courts, which also recognises the hard work put in by the many volunteers
