Troupe’s musical tale of love, laughs, betrayal… and fire

- By Vicky Castle

A popular performance chorus from Tenterden will unveil their new project of love, arson, betrayal and intrepid detective work at Revelation.

The Ruby Tuesdays will premiere their colourful but dark comic show The Crimson Palace.

Written by the Rubies’ musical director Max Wilson with Nigel Loraine, the show features songs from hit musicals Phantom of the Opera and Moulin Rouge, plus original compositions.

Set in the 1920s, the show charts the blossoming love between the beautiful Evie and dashing Gabriel, which impresario Gaston and his larger-than-life wife Granita do everything in their power to thwart.

There follows a dastardly plot, which the group say will “set the theatre ablaze.”

Meanwhile, the ensemble are in full voice, singing songs such as Music of the Night, Masquerade and Nature Girl.

The group said it promises to be a production full of beautiful music, colourful costumes and comedy characters.

Max Wilson, who leads the group, added: “As a full scale musical, the show is quite dif- ferent from anything we have performed before.

“Creatively, the Rubies have come a very long way in a short time, and we have been thrilled to attract big audiences.

“This includes more than 600 people for our Rochester Cathedral performance of Adele songs, 450 for our Make Your Voice Count fundraiser in January, plus our sell-out shows in Tenterden.”

The performance is on Saturday May 13, from 7.30pm (doors at 6.45pm).

Tickets are £12.50 and can be bought from www. thetuesdays.co.uk or www. revelationashford.co.uk
