Vodafone’s £1,000 tonic for hospice

-

The Ashford Pilgrims Hospice was delighted to receive a huge donation from a phone shop following a recent burglary.

Vodafone Ashford handed over a cheque for £1,000 to the Hythe Road hospice this week.

Mar k P a i n e , Vo d a f o n e regional manager explained: “Vodafone has recently introduced local Community Connection Awards.

“Every new store that has opened this year has been asked to donate £1,000 to a charity of their choosing and Vodafone is now rolling this out across all our stores.”

Emma Ayre, Ashford store manager added: “When we were asked to nominate a local charity, the staff all immediately agreed that we would like it to go to Pilgrims Hospices as we had been aware that they had been burgled and wanted to show our support.”

Deirdre Mewse, Community Fundraising Officer for the Pilgrims who accepted the cheque, said: “We would like to thank Vodafone for their amazing contribution.

“The money they have donated could enable a patient to be cared for in their own home or could provide 50 hours of nursing care.”

“With 77% of our fundraising coming from the local community the support of national and local businesses is very welcome.”
