Not all of Ashford IBC’s championship competitions were completed at the weekend as several members were either on county duty, or playing in county competition finals
The ladies’ championship, mixed pairs, two-wood drawn pairs, junior pairs and junior singles were due to be played this week. Over 60s singles: Winner: D Marsh (21); runner-up: E Strickland (11). New bowlers’ singles: Winner: T Sheppard (22); runner-up: R Hazell (7). Mixed triples: Winners: E Strickland, P Roughton and M Hayes (18), runners-up: Z White, A White and E White (15). Men’s singles: Winner: M Rich (18), runner-up: P Scrivener (12). Men’s pairs: Winners: I Stephen and C Allen (25); runners-up: I Larkin and P Hunter (19). Yardstick: Winner: P Roughton (47), runner-up: E Strickland (41). Ladies’ pairs: Winners: E White and J Stephen (18), runners-up: G Hawkes and A Rutland (16). Five-seven pairs (three sets): Winners: D White and E Griggs (15); runners-up: E Strickland and H Taylor (8)
Ashford were beaten 124-88 by Eastbourne in a friendly. Their highest winning rink comprised J Sinclair, G Williams, D Macey and R Attree.
Kent’s hopes of a fourth men’s national over-60 inter-county indoor title were dashed by Norfolk, who won 107-79 at Melton Mowbray. Kent’s women couldn’t stop a Norfolk double after a 100-82 defeat in the final of the Atherley Trophy.
