Ap­palled by dan­ger junc­tion pro­pos­als

I read with in­ter­est your ar­ti­cle about the prob­lems of the A2070 ‘death trap’ junc­tion (‘Ac­cu­sa­tion of money over safety at prob­lem junc­tion’, KE, April 20).

We have lived in Sev­ing­ton for 40 years and Ash­ford Bor­ough Coun­cil has never con­sid­ered the res­i­dents of our vil­lage when any plans for de­vel­op­ment have been put for­ward.

We are ap­palled that mov­ing the bol­lards to 64 Church Road/Bar­rey Road is even up for dis­cus­sion. Res­i­dents fought for ages to get them in­stalled and will never give them up with­out a fight.

ABC should have in­sisted that the stores – ie, TKMaxx, Smyths, Boots, Dunelm, B&M, etc, etc, on Ash­ford Retail Park put money aside for a proper junc­tion be­fore they were al­lowed to open their stores.

Traf­fic lights or a round­about are only a cou­ple of so­lu­tions. An­other would be a proper slip road so traf­fic can join the
