Building society moving home

-

A building society boss says a new branch will offer customers a broader range of services when it opens later this year.

Nationwide will be moving into the former Clarks footwear shop, which closed in March 2014 and has stood empty ever since.

The building society, which boasts more than 15 million customers, then dithered as to whether to move from its current branch further along the High Street to the unit at the entrance to the County Square shopping centre.

However, branch network director Amanda Beech says Nationwide is ready to move forward with the relocation.

She said: “Our branches are important to us, and that’s why we’re investing highly in our net- work over the next few years.

“We have looked at lots of potential options for the Ashford branch. To offer more choice, we needed more space.

“With the new site we are going to be offering new meeting rooms for customers to use Nationwide NOW, our video link connecting people to specialist advisors.

“It will also offer better privacy, bigger open spaces, and some new technology to make everything quicker and more efficient.”

The new branch is set to open in the autumn.
