Call for more litter pick volunteers

-

A fast food restaurant is organising a litter pick this weekend.

McDonald’s in Ashford is organising the rubbish clear-up as part of Love Where You Live, a national anti-littering campaign led by Keep Britain Tidy, and is looking for volunteers to join its team.

Staff from Eureka Leisure Park McDonald’s will be joining forces with volunteers from Bromley Green Football Club to collect rubbish around Rutherford Road, Trinity Road and Faversham Road on Sunday from 2.30pm.

Refreshments and McDonald’s snacks will be provided after the litter pick for all the volunteers.

Ashford Borough Council is supporting the event by helping to dispose of the litter collected, and providing litter picking equipment such as high visibility jackets, litter pickers, gloves and bin bag hoops.

Tracey Butler, council head of environment and land management, said: “This is a fantastic example of the community working together to help keep our borough clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy.”

Aaron Davis, of McDonald’s Eureka Park, said: “It is absolutely vital that we as a business with extensive links in the community should collaborate with the council with projects and initiatives like this.”

To take part in Sunday’s litter pick contact Aaron Davis on 01360@uk.mcd.com to register your interest. Anyone keen to organise their own litter pick should fill in a community litter pick form which can be found on the council website at www.ashford.gov.uk/litter or call 01233 331111. Tweet your event to @AshfordCouncil.
