Cup glory for Towers

Schools football

-

Alfie Miller scored twice as Towers School under19s beat Ravenswood 4-1 to win the Academies Cup final at the Gallagher Stadium in Maidstone. They went into the game in good spirits, after returning from France having finished the Vieux Conde Tournament as runners-up. They lost the final 1-0, having not conceded a goal in the competition before that. Bromley-based former winners Ravenswood started the better side, before Towers went in front against the run of play. By the half-hour mark they had opened up a 3-0 lead. Charlie Cairns put them ahead with a calm finish and Miller then got his first with a far-post finish, before slotting home the third. Ravenswood pulled one back from the penalty spot before half-time. Towers missed several chances to increase their advantage in the second half before Libert Chanyawu forced the Ravenswood goalkeeper into a mistake as he attempted to control the ball. Chanyawu then held off two covering defenders before scoring. Any post 16 students wanting to join Towers Academy should contact manager Jack Albin - e-mail albinj@towers. kent.sch.uk.
