Heathens end 15-year wait

Radislav Davidov’s secondhalf hat-trick helped Division 2 side Red Heathens upset AFC Locomotive Reserves as they came from behind to win 4-3 at Reachfield­s on Sunday.

Davidov’s treble earned his side their first trophy for 15 years, since they won the same competitio­n back in 2002.

Luke Walder fired Loco in front after only 90 seconds but Craig Haynes levelled from the spot soon after.

Davidov put Heathens 2-1 up early in the second half before Liam Whiting made it 2-2.

Heathens looked the better side as the game progressed and got their reward when Davidov hit two more in quick succession.

Ryan Carter got Loco’s third to set-up an exciting finish but Heathens held on to end their long wait for silverware. season, having gone on to win the Charity Trophy and League Cup.

Adam Roffey, Adam Mercer and Joe Fisher put Street in the driving seat but Market fought back with Ryan Smith topping and tailing the scoring. Buster Beaney’s penalty – in his first game for seven months – and Tom Ripley netted the others.
