Teen guilty with three men over gang rape of girl

-

Four men – including a teenager from Wye – have been found guilty of the gang rape of a 16-year-old girl who had turned to them for directions.

The attack happened when the victim was heading home as the men were returning from a night out.

After promising they would help her, the gang guided the vulnerable teenager to a flat above 555 Pizza & Kebab in Northwood Road, Ramsgate.

And then they set about systematically abusing the terrified victim, laughing as they passed her from one to the other.

The four men – Shershah Muslimyar, 20, of Hovenden Close, Canterbury; Rafiullah Hamidy, 24, formerly of Northwood Road, Ramsgate; restaurant boss Tamin Rahmani, of Northwood Road, Ramsgate; and Hamid Mohamadi, 18, from Wye, all denied three rape charges. But the jury at Canterbury Crown Court took two days to find the four men guilty on all charges, and now they face long sentences.

They were remanded in custody pending reports on the danger they pose but they were all warned they faced long sentences in July.

The victim told the jury: “I’m not sure how many were in the room. I think there were four or five of them.

“They were all pushing me to each other.

“One of them pushed me onto the bed. They were all laughing as they walked over. I think there was one or two by the door.”

The teenager said one of the men held her shoulders so she could not move.

She said: “I can’t remember much after that. They kept swapping over. They were having sex. I told them to stop. I moved but they just carried on.”

Prosecutor Simon Taylor told how the teenager was repeatedly raped in Hamidy’s room in Rahmani’s property.

After she was abused, she was led into the street in a distressed state and left alone.

The crying victim was spotted by a woman who took her into the safety of her home and the police were called.

During the trial, the judge ordered Mohamadi’s name to be withheld from court reports over doubts about his age. He has now been assessed as being 18. The trial faced a number of problems, which were kept away from the jury, as far-right groups attempted to disrupt proceedings by staging anti-Muslim protests.
