Robert Latala continued his excellent year with victory in the Folkestone Coastal 10k on Sunday.

The Ashford & District Road Running Club member followed up his recordbreaking exploits in the London Marathon in April by finishing three seconds ahead of Invicta East Kent’s Charlie Brisley in 33min 13sec, with the host club’s Lloyd Worsley third (33.41).

Latala, who set a A&DRRC club best in the capital’s showpiece, won the Ashford & District 10k in February, with Worlsey runner-up on that occasion.

First indications are that Sunday’s event raised more than £25,000 for local causes.

Trevor Kay (37.20) was next clubman home in 13th, with Jon Wells (39.47) 36th and Kevan James (40.52) 48th. Stu Nunn (44,43) trimmed three minutes off his personal best, while Brad Bunk finished in 45.19. Mark Carlton was another to lower his pb (46.03), Terry Sellen clocked 48.17, while Rhian Shrimplin was the first lady home, in 48.26.

Other club finishers were Matt Skipper (52.26), Jaclyn Kay (52.54), Sue Reader (57.25), Julia Foster (1.06.44) and club debutant Sarah Ashberry (1:07.20).

Helen Weeden and Eddie Rodger competed in the Edinburgh Marathon on Sunday.

Weeden, running the distance for the 39th time, finished in 4:26.49, with Rodger crossing the line in 4:45.30.

Rick Holden completed the Kent Circuit Marathon at the Cyclopark in Gravesend in 3:56.53

A&DRRC won the ladies’ senior team prize in the first East Kent inter-club relays at Folkestone.

The club fielded 13 teams across the age groups and a junior squad, with the men’s Vet 40 finishing runners-up and the seniors fourth.
