Pupil praised for helping girl who was hit by a car
Boy quick to give first aid to victim injured in collision
A grammar school in Ashford has expressed its ‘pride’ after a younger pupil stepped in to give first aid to a sixth former hit by a car.
Police were called at 3.53pm last Thursday to Hythe Road after the collision that injured a 17-year-old sixth former from the Norton Knatchbull School.
Jamie MacLean, deputy head teacher at Norton Knatchbull, said: “I can confirm that a sixth former from the Norton Knatchbull school was hit by a car as she stepped into the Hythe Road.
“A student from our lower school, who is a member of St John Ambulance, was on hand to administer first aid and the victim’s father was contacted and was quickly in attendance.
“The student was taken to hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
“She is expected to make a full recovery and return to school soon.
“We would like to add how proud we are of our student body who were on scene at the time of the incident, particularly the student who administered first aid and took control of the scene in a mature and efficient manner,
“He is a credit to his St John Ambulance Cadet Force.”
Police officers attended the scene and the girl is said to have received no serious injuries.
The incident caused long traffic delays in Willesborough and the town centre.
