Alert as spate of burglaries linked

Police are linking a series of burglaries that have taken place in villages across Ashford.

Isolated properties have been targeted in Smeeth, Brook, Boughton Aluph and Godmersham in recent weeks.

Residents have reported having cash, jewellery and electrical items stolen between March and June this year.

Detectives are carrying out a number of inquiries to identify those responsibl­e. Break-ins have been reported in the following areas: Eggarton Lane, Godmersham on Wednesday, March 29 between 9.30am and 4.30pm Kempes Corner, Boughton Aluph on Friday, April 28 between 10.30am and 11.30am Woolpack Hill, Smeeth on Tuesday, May 2 between 9.12am and 7.20pm Spelders Hill, Brook on Thursday, May 4 between 10.30am and 1.20pm Bockhanger Lane, Kennington on Monday, June 5 between 8.30pm and 11pm Two in Naccolt, Brook on Thursday, June 8 - one between noon and 1.30pm Nats Lane, Brook on, Thurs- day, June 8 between 10.30am and 4.30pm and another between 10am and 5.50pm

Det Insp Ben Loose said: “We believe that these burglaries are linked and we are working hard to find out who is responsibl­e.

“In the meantime we are asking residents to be vigilant, look out for anything suspicious and most of all ensure sheds and houses are locked and the alarms are on.”
