Rebuilt wall is a risk to pedestrians

-

I would like to ask why the wall along Somerset Road has not been renewed to its original height.

I can give you many reasons why at present the railings are totally against Health and Safety for pedestrians in so many ways.

The wall was at a higher height for those reasons, so would someone from Kent County Council like to explain why it has not renewed at that height.

Would they also like to explain what defence there is, from any debris from vehicles or the road (ie chippings, stones, discarded cigarette ends, open back loose lorry material), including pollution is now right in your face if you are walking along on that path.

Whoever agreed this needs firing because they have failed miserably in protecting the public. Railings are perfectly fine if the road is level with the walkway but when the road is higher and in fact head height of a pedestrian or child, someone is going to get hurt.

Not only this, I saw a child walking along the top of wall with her mother, it beggars belief if a vehicle crashed into the railings while this was happening and again if you are walking along, any accident is right at head level, of debris resulting from it coming at you.

Not only that, what about when it rains and surface spray blowing into your face, umbrella or not.

I am 5ft 10in so you can see from this picture a child’s head would be at road level. J Pyatt Ashford and in national publications. Dr Nick Hudd Elmfield, Tenterden
