-

Choral scholars from King’s College Cambridge are making their 29th consecutive annual visit to Bethersden next month.

The King’s Men will perform at St Margaret’s Church, the village’s parish church, on Friday, July 14 at 7.30pm.

The King’s Men are made up of the choral scholars who sing the daily chapel services at King’s as well as taking part in concerts and recording sessions.

During the Easter period, the group tour the country singing in churches and cathedrals.

They have also performed worldwide, including and at the Vatican and the Kremlin.

The concert is organised by the Friends of St Margaret’s, Bethersden, and raises funds to maintain the church for future generations and usually draws a crowd of more than 200.

Anna Green, one of the organisers, said: “We are delighted that the choral and organ scholars from King’s College are coming again this year, which makes 29 years in a row. It’s a connection of which we are very proud.”

Most people will know the group from listening to the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols from King’s on Christmas Eve.

Tickets, costing £15, can be bought by sending a cheque payable to ‘The Friends of St Margaret’s Church’ with an SAE to The Honorary Secretary, c/o 47 Orchard Field, Bethersden TN26 3AW.
