Driver hurt crashing into railings
Scores of onlookers gathered after a car crashed through metal railings in Ashford.
The smash happened on Sunday around 7.40pm at the junction of Beaver Road and Norman Road.
Police said they were called to a single vehicle road traffic collision, where a silver Volvo crashed into some railings and a wall. The male driver was taken to hospital.
Photographs taken by witnesses show the car appears to have ploughed through railings and a brick wall.
The incident happened outside the Ashford International Sports and Social Club, better known by residents as the Working Men’s Club.
A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 7.40pm to reports a car had gone into a building in Beaver Road, close to Ashford International Sports and Social Club.
“We sent one ambulance and a paramedic car to the scene.
“A man was taken to the William Harvey Hospital for further treatment.
His injuries are not thought to be serious.”
