New play park doesn’t forget area’s history

-

Guests soaked up the sunshine at the official opening of a play area near Ashford.

Pupils from John Wesley School helped the Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Winston Michael, cut the ribbon at Kestrel Park at Brisley Farm in Kingsnorth. Visitors tried out the slide, play fort, zip wires and basket swing.

It is next to Iron Age woodland and the design of the play equipment draws on this.

It was also the site of a 1944 bombing in which RAF servicemen were killed. A commemorative plaque has been installed. The project cost £328,000 including funding for maintenance and comes from developer contributions.
