-

Godinton House’s annual Deplhinium Festival starts this weekend and will be raising money for local charities.

The Elatum Delphinium collection in the walled garden of the house in Godinton Lane, Ashford is now in full bloom.

The festival opens on Saturday when Dr Karen Robbirt, from the Royal Horticultural Society, will give a talk on the flowers.

On Sunday members of the Delphinium Society will share their enthusiasm for the ‘Queen of the Border’ and will be selling their seed raised delphiniums.

Next Wednesday there’s a jazz evening in the walled garden with the Colrose Seven in aid of St John Ambulance from 7pm. Tickets are £12 and booking is required.

Next Thursday the venue hosts Blooming Green, when organic growers Bek and Jen and Godinton head gardener, Viv Hunt, are the hosts. The venue’s third National Garden Scheme open day is on Friday, June 30.

Messy art for children takes place on Saturday, July 1, and on Sunday, July 2, folk band Evergreen will play from 2pm with proceeds going to Headway Ashford.

The gardens remain open until 8pm during the festival. For more information visit godintonhouse.co.uk
