Sun shines on annual fete fundraiser

-

Charing’s annual fete took place at Clewards Meadow.

The event raised more than £5,000, to be split between the school, village church and Charing Scouts.

The Rev Sheila Cox opened the fete at noon and Mayor of Ashford, Cllr Winston Michael, also paid a visit with his wife Doreen, making sure to inspect the Charing Scout’s on his way past.

The sunny weather saw a big turn-out and the fete remained busy throughout the day.

There was a number of events for people to enjoy, including choirs, dance performances, a dog show, magic show and a wood-carving demonstration.

There were also plenty of stalls offering food and drinks as well as raffles and prize draws.

The Charing Fete Committee thanked everyone for their support and attending and is now busy planning next year’s event.
