Villagers united in memory of Jo
People in Wye joined thousands of others in getting to know their neighbours as part of the Great Get Together.
The new initiative, which ran over the weekend, was in memory of Jo Cox, the Labour MP who was murdered last year.
More than 100,000 communities nationwide took part in events aimed at bringing people closer together through neighbourhood celebrations.
The Rev Ravi Holy organised the Great Get Together in Wye, joining forces with Lady Joanna Thornhill Primary School and others in the community to host the event.
He said: “It’s a positive, constructive and helpful initiative and I feel that it’s so relevant.
“The country has been hugely divided by Brexit and the general election, people are critical of the other sides.
“As a parish priest, I believe in keeping everyone together.”
The celebration, which was attended by more than 100 people, included a fete full of activities for families, plus a combined pupils choir from Lady Joanna Thornhill and Grove School.
