At Folkestone’s Radnor Park, anglers took part in a silver fish only match and without the carp, the weights were still good. Russ Robertson led the field with 26lb and tied for second/third spot were Alan Yates and John Williams snr with 16lb 9oz. On the same day at Dengemarsh, the Dungeness anglers could find just three fish in total! Steve Field was first with (850g), followed by John Smith (800g) and Joe Loftus (350g). No under size fish were caught, just three whiting. The Martin Walters anglers fared better with Hawkinge’s Shaun Carey winning with 8lb 9oz. Second spot went to Danny Jago with 8lb, while Rowan Lee (4lb 10oz) was third. Eels, sole and pouting were the fish caught. The latest match on the canal at the Duke’s Head stretch saw some tench and bream brought to the scales. Niel West was top rod with 20lb 7oz. Laurie Webster was second with a haul of 10lb 2oz that included four tench. Graham Slingsby was in third spot with 6lb. Round three is on the Sainsbury’s stretch today (Wednesday). The Cinque Port anglers were on the canal at Cannongate, were the temperatur­e soared to 90 degrees! Andy Camber shrugged off the heat for a winning 6lb 7oz. Second spot went to Les Foster with 5lb 10.5oz and the half ounce denied Les Snooks, who had to settle for third place.
