Cof­fee Pot Train pulls into town

A pop­u­lar piece of art­work has re­turned to the town cen­tre for the sum­mer.

The Cof­fee Pot Train is a 3D flower ar­range­ment de­signed to repli­cate the first lo­co­mo­tive built at Ash­ford’s Old Rail­way Works.

The flo­ral dis­play can now be seen within the raised brick planter by the Vicarage Lane car park en­trance.

The Cof­fee Pot train was built by Lo­co­mo­tive Su­per­in­ten­dent, James Cud­worth, in 1850 and formed the ba­sis for all fu­ture lo­co­mo­tives, some of which are still be­ing used through­out the world to­day.

The train will re­main on dis­play un­til Oc­to­ber.
