Yates races to third place

Quad racing

-

Connor Yates was back to his best with another podium finish in the Nora MX 100cc championship at Pontrilas in Herefordshire on Sunday. The 10-year-old from Kennington had struggled in the last couple of rounds but claimed two thirds and a fourth and took third place on the day. He got a great start in race one on the fast circuit with big hills and jump, leading at one stage, only to spin out on at bend, before battling to finish third, A slower start in race two saw him held up behind some of the slower bigger class bikes but produced another great ride and claim another top-three spot. The final race saw the top-four riders pull away, all battling for the lead, only for Yates to suffer an exhaust problem which forced him to lose power but he still held on to claim fourth place. The next round is at West Meon at Petersfield in Hampshire on Sunday, September 10. If you want the chance to land a monster carp get over to France. This is what Folkestone angler Martin Donnelly did to land this giant 58lb mirror carp. In soaring temperatures – in the high 90s – Rainbow Lake gave this angler his personal best. Also enduring hot weather were the DAA Anglers down at Dungeness. Phil Tanner did well to win with dogfish for 7lb 3oz and just behind was Dover angler Nathan Elliot with 7lb 1oz. Gavin Smith was third with 5lb 7oz. The next match is pegged behind the power station on Sunday.

This season, mackerel are nice large fish so only take what you need and let the rest go on to produce more of these super sport fish for our young anglers to enjoy.
