Why did they cancel Tentertainment?
It is difficult to fit together the disparate information surrounding the Tentertainment rancour.
This year’s festival was notable for better sound control and, indeed, Tenterden Town Council tell us that there were no written complaints.
Who, therefore, cancelled next year’s, and why? I am one of the nearby residents who did complain last year and had no intention of doing so this year.
I was very surprised to find, a couple of days after the event, that 2018 has been cancelled. Who cancelled 2018, and why? Somebody on Tenterden Council, Ashford Council, or among the Tentertainment organisers must know. The facts currently known suggest the possibility that cancellation was not necessary, Dr N P Hudd Elmfield, Tenterden somewhat amazed at the pictures.
One picture shows the existing bowls club and the other shows bowlers from Ashford Rail Bowls Club.
While I accept the situation with Ashford Town Bowls, Ashford Rail is in a similar position, because our future is uncertain.
The only difference between us is that Ashford Rail is a sports and social club and bowls is just a section. It would take far too long for me to explain our dilemma since BR property sold/leased all sports and social clubs between 1991 and 1999.
As a comparison, Ashford Rail has a total membership of over 1,100, of which there are approximately 90 bowlers.
I doubt if Ashford Town Bowls Club has 50. I just feel it is a lot of money to spend for so few people. Tony Fortune, secretary, Ashford Rail Staff Club Beaver Road, Ashford importance and building even more houses to meet our population crisis.
One day, I hope to see a complete change in direction to finally start rebuilding Ashford in a more sustainable and community-facing way. Unfortunately we are easily swayed big promises that end up just adding to the pile of problems for the next generation to solve.
I would urge everyone to oppose more houses for Ashford and stop the south east becoming a very large housing estate. Steve Ansell Kingsnorth Road, South Ashford
