M20 lane closures for five nights as work takes place
A series of road and lane closures will be in place this week to allow work to be carried out on the M20 and surrounding roads.
In Ashford, there will be junction improvement work with pavement and drainage surveys taking place on the motorway between junction 10 at Ashford and junction 11 for Hythe.
There will be lane closures in both directions from today (Thursday) for five nights, between 8pm and 6am.
On the M20 between West Malling and Folkestone, there will be vegetation clearance work taking place between junction 3 and 13. There will be various slip road closures in both directions for five nights from tonight (Thursday), between 8pm and 6am.
Work also continues this week on the A20 in Folkestone. There will be lane closures on the westbound carriageway between Western Heights roundabout and the Courtwood interchange, between 6am and 6pm for the duration of the works.
Works are scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
There will also be workers undertaking road marking and stud renewal on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9 this week, with closures in both directions for five nights from tonight, between 8pm and 6am.
Traffic was held on the M20 on Saturday afternoon on both sides of the motorway after a man was spotted standing on a bridge above the road.
Police say they were called at 3.30pm to reports of concern for a man standing on a bridge on Station Road, Ashford.
The man came down from the bridge and was with police after- wards. The motorway was closed temporarily with delays.
The i ncident t ook place between junction 9 at Ashford and 11 for Hythe.
Highways England also said there were delays just after junction 10 on the M20 coastbound around the same time, with one lane closed, because a car had broken down.
