M20 lane clo­sures for five nights as work takes place

A se­ries of road and lane clo­sures will be in place this week to al­low work to be car­ried out on the M20 and sur­round­ing roads.

In Ashford, there will be junc­tion im­prove­ment work with pave­ment and drainage sur­veys tak­ing place on the mo­tor­way be­tween junc­tion 10 at Ashford and junc­tion 11 for Hythe.

There will be lane clo­sures in both di­rec­tions from to­day (Thurs­day) for five nights, be­tween 8pm and 6am.

On the M20 be­tween West Malling and Folke­stone, there will be veg­e­ta­tion clear­ance work tak­ing place be­tween junc­tion 3 and 13. There will be var­i­ous slip road clo­sures in both di­rec­tions for five nights from tonight (Thurs­day), be­tween 8pm and 6am.

Work also con­tin­ues this week on the A20 in Folke­stone. There will be lane clo­sures on the west­bound car­riage­way be­tween West­ern Heights round­about and the Court­wood in­ter­change, be­tween 6am and 6pm for the du­ra­tion of the works.

Works are sched­uled to be com­pleted by the end of Oc­to­ber.

There will also be work­ers un­der­tak­ing road mark­ing and stud re­newal on the M20 be­tween junc­tions 8 and 9 this week, with clo­sures in both di­rec­tions for five nights from tonight, be­tween 8pm and 6am.

Traf­fic was held on the M20 on Satur­day af­ter­noon on both sides of the mo­tor­way af­ter a man was spot­ted stand­ing on a bridge above the road.

Po­lice say they were called at 3.30pm to re­ports of con­cern for a man stand­ing on a bridge on Sta­tion Road, Ashford.

The man came down from the bridge and was with po­lice af­ter- wards. The mo­tor­way was closed tem­po­rar­ily with de­lays.

The i nci­dent t ook place be­tween junc­tion 9 at Ashford and 11 for Hythe.

High­ways Eng­land also said there were de­lays just af­ter junc­tion 10 on the M20 coast­bound around the same time, with one lane closed, be­cause a car had bro­ken down.
