ROADRUNNERS HELP MARK EVENT’S DOUBLE CENTURY
Ashford & District Road Runners were out in force as the Ashford parkrun celebrated its 200th event. Trevor Kay was first home for the club, finishing fifth in 18min14sec, followed by Dan Green in seventh (18.26) and Paul Moses in 12th (19.26). First lady home for the club was Claire Green in 81st place in 24.50. Scott Lynch celebrated the anniversary by running the race dressed as a chicken, as well as being the 30-minute pacer, finishing in 29.59. Other results: Keith Haynes (20.48), Mark Attenborough (21.05), Richard Baker (21.40), Ricky Hickman (PB 22.05), Stuart Nunn (22.11), Mark Carlton (22.38), Mark Harrison (PB 22.41), Terry Sellen (22.58), Edward Rodger (23.20), Elodie Paviot (25.11), John Fidge (28.10), Heather Johnston (29.41), Becky Hodgson (30.35) and Jeremy Chambers (34.50). Meanwhile, around the country, Robert Carpenter finished the Abingdon parkrun in 21.27, Gareth Darch completed the Lee-on-the-Solent event in 22.53 and Julie Foster took on the Weymouth parkrun (33.09). Dan Green’s second race of the weekend saw him finish the Great Run Ashford in third place overall in a time of 18.35. Steve Hickman took part in the multi-terrain New Forest Half-Marathon on Sunday, finishing in 2hr01min10sec. The course runs through the heart of the New Forest taking in forest enclosures and open roads. Hickman finished in 955th position in a field of close to 2,000 runners. Closer to home, Ann Fidge was the club’s sole representative for the undulating, scenic Wingham 10k on Sunday, finishing in 205th in 1: 02.35.
