- By Dan Wright

Police taped off a residential street after a teenager was stabbed in the back when a reported house party got out of control.

Officers were called to a home in Oak Tree Road, near Victoria Park in South Ashford, between 10.50pm and 11pm on Friday.

The 16-year-old victim suffered a serious injury to his back and is in a stable condition in hospital.

Police arrested a 17-year-old boy from the town on suspicion of assault on Saturday.

Neighbours described how as many as five police cars were called to the scene, as well as ambulance crews.

Claire Shoubridge posted on Facebook: “It was a party gone mad, fighting in the street and an ambulance needed with five police cars.” Danno Brightman said: “There were loads of police in Oak Tree Road, with tape cordoning it off.”

The 17- year- old has been released on bail until Thursday, October 12, pending further inquiries.

Police launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward earlier this week.

PC Gemma Simpson said: “During a disturbance at the address a 16-year-old boy from the Ashford area suffered a serious injury to his back consistent with a stab wound.

“He was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

“We have since carried out a number of inquiries and spoken to witnesses.

“We believe there was a large group of people at the scene when the reported assault took place and are now appealing for anyone else who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.”
