Tyre-slasher targets every car along housing estate’s road

-

Police are investigating after a knife-wielding yob slashed the tyres of more than a dozen parked cars.

Residents in the Heathfield Road, Ashford, reported the damage on Wednesday morning of last week, with at least 15 vehicles reporting punctures.

It is believed a vandal walked through the housing estate and punctured every tyre along the length of the road.

Car owners woke up to find the damage overnight, and the vandalism took its toll on their morning journeys into work.

Resident Maureen Drake said: “My husband was about to drive my car but then said the front tyre is blown.

“I only had it replaced about a month ago. Our house is right on the corner next to the footpath but we didn’t hear anything.

“Everyone else was outside and also had their tyres blown. It was horrific at rush hour as people were about to go to work or to school.”

Police spoke to vehicle owners during the morning and issued crime reference numbers to those affected.

A spokesman said the damage happened between 4am and 5am, and anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident reference number 27-0309.
