Tyre-slasher tar­gets ev­ery car along hous­ing es­tate’s road

Po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing af­ter a knife-wield­ing yob slashed the tyres of more than a dozen parked cars.

Res­i­dents in the Heath­field Road, Ash­ford, re­ported the dam­age on Wed­nes­day morn­ing of last week, with at least 15 ve­hi­cles re­port­ing punc­tures.

It is be­lieved a van­dal walked through the hous­ing es­tate and punc­tured ev­ery tyre along the length of the road.

Car own­ers woke up to find the dam­age overnight, and the van­dal­ism took its toll on their morn­ing jour­neys into work.

Res­i­dent Mau­reen Drake said: “My hus­band was about to drive my car but then said the front tyre is blown.

“I only had it re­placed about a month ago. Our house is right on the cor­ner next to the foot­path but we didn’t hear any­thing.

“Ev­ery­one else was out­side and also had their tyres blown. It was hor­rific at rush hour as peo­ple were about to go to work or to school.”

Po­lice spoke to ve­hi­cle own­ers dur­ing the morn­ing and is­sued crime ref­er­ence num­bers to those af­fected.

A spokesman said the dam­age hap­pened be­tween 4am and 5am, and any­one with in­for­ma­tion should call 101 and quote in­ci­dent ref­er­ence num­ber 27-0309.
