Witness project wins police funding boost

-

A specialist service in Ashford has received a cash donation from Kent Police.

The Citizens Advice Witness Service received a cheque for £595 from Insp Andy Bidmead at Ashford police station on Monday, September 25.

The service provides volunteers who work with and support all victims and witnesses who are required to give evidence.

The money will be used for the ongoing support of the volunteers to help deliver the service.

Mr Bidmead said: “We never take for granted the important part victims and witnesses play in crime detection and ensuring justice is done.

“We are grateful for the support given by this organisation and hope this money helps them to continue the good work.”

The money was provided through the Kent Police Property Fund, which is made up of proceeds from the sale of unclaimed stolen and recovered property that is sold at auction.
