Local flood risks: have your say

-

People are being asked for their views on a proposed strategy to ensure Kent is better prepared to manage flood risks.

The Kent Local Flood Risk Management Strategy – out to consultation until Sunday – outlines various objectives to manage and minimise the risks of flooding.

It considers various sources of flooding risks, such as surface water and groundwater, and how they can be managed by authorities such as councils, water companies and the Environment Agency.

Kent County Council’s cabinet member for the environment Matthew Balfour said: “We want to ensure we understand the different flood risks unique to communities around the county.

“We also want to make sure new developments manage flood risks which don’t cause other issues, and that people understand flood risks in their area and are better able to protect themselves.

“We would like to hear from you on whether you agree with the objectives.

“This local strategy will build on lessons learned and develop our understanding of flood risks – and improve how we work together.”
