Cricketers’ cycle ride to nine clubs raises £7,700 for hospice

-

Tenterden Cricket Club players got on their bikes for a charity ride.

The Kent league premier division side fielded a team of cyclists for the Hospice in the Weald fundraiser that involved visiting nine other clubs in the league. Clubs are stretched across the length and breadth of the county and the team cycled around 170 miles, setting off from the Hospice in the Weald in Pembury.

The cyclists pedalled to the cricket grounds, including Chatham and Sandwich, where they enjoyed drinks and energy bars, before returning to a rapturous reception at their home ground of Morghew Park in Smallhythe Road, Tenterden.

They completed the journey in around 15 hours and have raised nearly £7,700 for the hospice with money still coming in.

You can sponsor the team by visiting https://www.justgiving. com/ and search for Tenterden CC’s Big Bike Ride. Staff at the Hair Academy in Ashford took part in the Macmillan coffee morning, but turned it into a week of activities.

They dressed up as characters from Alice in Wonderland to the surprise of customers and held a cake sale for everyone to enjoy.

The salon in the Churchyard raised £192.
