Supermarket’s boost for children’s ward
Staff at Sainsbury’s are happy to have given a large donation to their charity of the year.
Last Friday, staff at the Padua Children’s Ward at the William Harvey hospital received a large amount of items, including beakers, spoons, bowls, dried breakfast cereal and nappies, from the Ashford supermarket.
A spokeswoman from Sainsbury’s said: “It was fabulous. They were really thankful and enthusiastic about it.
“We’re now going to try and help out with some other things they need such as wet wipes and as well as making adult and children washbags because if children get transferred to other hospitals don’t have any of their stuff.”
The ward is currently the in-store charity of the year at the Simone Weil Avenue supermarket and donation buckets are placed at the end of checkouts for customers to use as well as the staff holding other fundraising events.
So far more than £800 has been raised and the Padua Ward will remain Sainsbury’s charity until next July.
